This is the 16 hour course for the Maryland Wear and Carry Permit. This is a 2 day class to get the 16 hours required. This course does NOT include fingerprinting or the application fee.
Day 1, Saturday, will be at the shop. Class will be from 7am to 3pm to address the classroom instruction portion of the course.
Day 2, Sunday, will be at a outdoor range in Clear Brook, VA. We will work from 9am to 5pm and complete training as well as the shooting assessment. Clear Brook is the first exit in VA on US 81S about 41 miles from our shop.
You will need to bring:
Day 1: paper, pencil/pen, drivers license, and your firearm if you have questions prior to range day. You will want to bring food for lunch or snacks and drinks.
Day 2: Firearm (I suggest something you shoot comfortably), Ammunition (250 rounds minimum), a holster to safely carry the firearm, hearing protection, eye protection, sunscreen, and food. For food, we recommend something that you can snack on throughout the day. Eating a large meal if it is hot will not be good.
We will be packing a cooler full of water for the range to stay hydrated. We will have targets there for you to use.
If you need a holster, ammunition, hearing protection, eye protection, etc. Please call the shop immediately so we can work on securing those items. We do have guns listed that you can rent that will include 300 rounds of ammunition. In addition, you may purchase a firearm from us and you can use that firearm for the range day of the class. Once you have your HQL we can complete the transfer of the pistol to you.
The instructor is Steve Moneypenny. He has 20+ years of concealed carry experience, is a USPSA Grand Master shooter and a IDPA Master Shooter. Steve has been a NRA certified instructor for 20 years.
This class is non-refundable, and has a minimum of 4 people, any less than 4 and the course will be cancelled and you will be provided options. Please verify your calendar prior to signing up. If an emergency arises contact Bob directly at [email protected]
